Bacon and Banana Twists

What can be simpler then bananas wrapped in bacon then grilled to perfection. Jenny from The AGA Shop, Telford, says these are enjoyed by all ages at their barbecues.  Sophisticated palates may prefer Parma ham.

Ingredients

Serve 1 banana twist per person

  • Small bananas
  • Lemon juice
  • Rashers of streaky smoked bacon or Parma ham
  • Runny honey

Method

Peel the bananas and brush with lemon juice. Roll the bacon or Parma ham around the bananas and lightly brush with honey.

2, 3 and 4 oven AGA: Place on the grill rack in the AGA roasting tin and grill on the top set of runners in the roasting oven for 8-10 minutes, until golden brown, turn the bananas over half way during cooking.

Serve with grilled meats – these are particularly good with grilled chicken.

Conventional cooking: Cook under the grill or on the barbecue.
